Scherezade Garcia was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. As a child she became involved in the arts by participating in projects that involved mural painting with visual artists Elias Delgado and Nidia Serra. She studied at Altos de Chavon; The School of Design/ affiliated to Parsons School of Design. In 1986, she moved to New York as a student at Parsons School of Design, where she obtained the Parsons Institutional Scholarship and the Dana Foundation Work Grant. Her work as a fine arts artist has been continuously exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean since 1990. Among the museums and galleries that have exhibited her work are the Newark Museum, The Jersey City Museum, and El Museo del Barrio in NYC, Lehman College Art Gallery and The Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo, DR.

Scherezade has also developed a body of work as a fashion illustrator and textile designer. She has worked for Carlos Falchi Designs, inc., as Fashion illustrator, textile designer for couture collections and developing concepts and new ideas as well. Clients for these projects included, Henry Bendel, Saks 5th Ave, Bergdorf & Goodman, among others.

Also has created illustrations for N.O.R Design Co. Tokyo, Japan, clients included Sony Plaza in Tokyo, who commissioned artwork for shopping bags, wrapping paper, postcards and books. She has worked for Fashion Art Bank, as a fashion illustrator for licensing projects, client includes Art Publishing Group, creating fashion illustration posters for the international market. Others clients has been Guess Jeans, Interior Design Magazine, Kirchoff & Wohlberg and Urban Attitudes. Recently she created the illustrations for “Dreams, Flora and Fauna”, a children’s book commissioned by cayena publications in NYC.
